Get rid of Konqeuror

I hate when I select a link from an email (thunderbird) and it auto opens konqueror with that URL rather than my beloved Firefox 0.9

Can I tell Fedora Core 2 to delete konqueror from my distro?

You could remove konqueror or you could just set your default web browser to Firefox. Under preferences you'll find "Preferred Applications". In the web browser section just point to the correct path for Firefox.

If you still need to uninstall konqueror you could probably just go into "System Settings"->"Add/Remove Applications" and look for it in there.

I don't think you can uninstall Konqueror without gutting KDE.... at which point you'd do better to simply uninstall KDE as a whole, rather than just Konq.

no, I dont want to lose KDE - I love KDE.

I used the firefox 0.9 auto installer and really don't know where to look for my firefox is located so I can point to it.

Any advice?

which firefox in a terminal will answer that question.

I had the exact same issue.

Do this:

Go to Control Center (Fedora menu -> Preferences -> Control Center).

KDE Components.

File Associations.

Under the 'text' drop-down, select 'html'.

Under "application preference order", click the "Add" button. Browse to your Firefox executable. Make sure firefox is at the top of the list.

Any KDE apps should then use Firefox to open any HTML. This works for me since I use KMail.

I am still having a problem with it, though. If I am already running an instance of Firefox, then it won't open a new window or tab. It bombs out with a "profile already in use" error. I know some folks have written a script to fix that, but I have yet to make one work.
