GDM session closed for me on Fedora 2

I just installed Fedora 2 a few weeks ago. I was running RedHat linux 9 before this and loved it. So far I like Fedora 2 just as mush or more, except for one thing. Twice or thrice now when I was doing something (doesn't seem to matter what) X just stopped running, and I got the text message "GDM session closed for user (me)" . After displaying this for about a second, X would startup again, and I would be back at GDM asking for a user name and password. What is wrong and how do I fix it.

System specs (as far as I know):
AMD Xp 1.8 GZ processor
NVidia geForce 4 TI 128mb DRR
On board (Crystal?) something Audio...
Fedora Core 2
KDE (what ever version comes default with FC2)

Thanks in advance for help.
