Gaim issues

I just ran the updates on my pc for fedora since I just installed it and before I ran the GAIM update... my yahoo messenger part worked. After the update I get an error message saying it can't read it. What the ?? How can I correct this or get that part to work again? I also have an issue with my sound card not wanting to work but I am beginning to think that is due to it being an onboard one. I am at a loss.. TIA

what versions are you running etc...? and what was the error message?

Version .75 of it and it says it can't connect to my yahoo becuase it is" unable to read" I made sure my password and sign in name were correct and everything so there is no real reason for it not to work..

for me also same problem, previously am using 0.74 and is working fine with yahoo. When I upgraded that to 0.75, giving that error message............

maybe it is a bug of some sort.. I dont know and noone else seems to either..,

Yeah, me too. there is an inconsistency in the protocol on this version and nobody has responded to remedy the problem. It is the same under all distros. The problem I think is that .75 automatically changes the server from scs.yahoo.com to scs.msg.yahoo.com. And change it all you want it will automatically change it back. Just run rpm -e gaim and find the .74 version and install it. This should remedy your problem, it did for me.

Thanks all. If the last suggestion doesn't work, you can also actually download yahoo messenger for linux too. At least for redhat and debian.. Dont know about anyone else.
