Fuzzy stuff on monitor

I just installed Fedora Core 1, and I've no problem with the installation. When I booted Fedora, everything goes fuzzy and I can't see anything. I selected "Generic 1024x768" during the installation and Vertical Sync and Horizontal Refresh to 60. Both are my current settings for the operating system I'm using now, Windows XP Professional.

I use Knoppix before and I also had the same problem. But it was fixed when I set the resolution to 1024x768 and Vertical Sync and Horizontal Refresh to 60. But how come it doesn't work on Fedora?

Can anyone here help a bit?

while you have windows installed, go to my computer & printout the hardware profile... that should tell you your make of graphic card & other details.

when you install fedora, if it supports your graphic card, select that option. Also, try setting up X windows with a lower screen resolution to begin with.

Most important you need your monitor manual to make sure you set the horix & vert refresh rates right - if they not automatically detected. Setting these wrong could blow your monitor.

you just need to test various settings.

I selected "Unprobed Monitor" during installation -- and it worked! Thanks for the tip for trying out with different settings!
