Code:
#yum list python
Installed Packages
python.i386 2.4.3-18.fc6 installed
python.i386 2.4.4-1.fc6 installed
So yum upgrade doesn't work (that's what pup's doing, after all), and reinstalling python-devel doesn't work. Reinstalling python MIGHT work, but that would uninstall the entire gnome framework for dependency reasons... including yum. Good times.

Anyone have a good way to rip either one of these python entries out of the installation repository so yum will find its sanity?

EDIT: Using the Add/Remove Software tool (pirut) I was able to target a single python incarnation (the old one) and expunge it. This then silenced pup's constant whining about a new package update. Time will tell if something important got removed.
I was having a similar problem with upgrading after my clean install. With a bit of patience and some trial and error, I got python to upgrade. Immediately after my install there were 128 updates available. I would get several errors about conflicts. What I did which seemed to work in the end was to only update small chunks at a time. Python was one of the last to make it but it get update. I am not sure what the magic combination was to get it to work but it did eventually work.

My only remaining problem is alsa 1.0.12 doesn't work with my NF6100-405 chipset mobo. So every time a new kernel comes out it breaks my sound and I have to reinstall alsa 1.0.13.

Just a minor annoyance, but really wish they'd update the version in extras repo.

I have 64-bit FC6 installed and can't get Mathematica 5 to work

Code:
Mathematica
Mathematica cannot determine operating system.
And following try also results in errors
Code:
linux32 Mathematica
Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C
Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default
Warning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfActivate
Warning: ... found while parsing '<Key>osfActivate:PrimitiveParentActivate()'
Warning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfCancel
Warning: ... found while parsing '<Key>osfCancel:PrimitiveParentCancel()'
Warning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfBeginLine
I found solution for FC5 about those keysym errors but does them work for 64-bit FC6 ?
