fstab file is not configured, or... ?

When I attempt to open/mount my dvd-rom drive to read a data disc, I get:

Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
mount: can't find /dev/hdb in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

How do I configure my fstab correctly?

hdb is the correct location of my dvd drive.

Well, in your fstab you should write something like:

/dev/hdb iso9660 user,noauto,owner,ro 0 0

Your mileage may vary. And BE SURE that is not the first line in the file. I know I had problems with that . AFAIK, the first line should be with the root partition.

Thanks for the tip, but it turned out to be a bad data dvd. Another data dvd worked fine.

Thanks though!
