Freezing RedHat Package Manager

Here's the problem,

I am trying to remove a couple of packages from my system. First I tried the "add/remove applications" tool that came installed with FC2. Once it gets to "processing rpm headers" in freezes every time. So, next I tried removing them by hand using "rpm --erase <package>". This also freezes everytime. I searched around on these boards and someone suggested "rpm -rebuilddb", which also froze. I later tried installing an rpm package and that froze too.

I was able to remove packages last week. This is a new problem for me. It seems anything to do with rpms will freeze. Any ideas?

Chris

Here is the best way to rebuild db as root and possible in single user mode ..

# rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
# rpm -vv --rebuilddb
