Freeze on reboot with no keyboad installed!
Hello,
I'm having some problems with 3 PCs with the exact same hardware configuration running on Fedora Core 2 with all software updates installed. When I do a reboot using the "reboot" command everything shuts down but the system hang on message "restarting system" just before the reboot normally occurs. The problem only happens when no keyboard is installed! The motherboard used is a Chaintech MPM800-3 with the latest BIOS. Anyone has the same problem and knows how to fix this? Thanks a lot! |

Are you shutting down the system remotely and they have no keyboards or are you unhooking the keyboard while it's on after you issue the shutdown -h now command? If it's the latter I've already explained what will happen. |
I did not unhook the keyboard... I boot the PC without a keyboard, no keyboard driver is loaded and shutdown -h also works. I only have a problem when issuing the reboot command.
I don't get that problem with a PC running on different hardware with the same installation of Fedora Core 2. So I guess it not IRQ related? Must be something with that particular board? Thanks anyway. |
Here's an update on my problem:
I also tried rebooting my machines using those commands: shutdown -t3 -r now init 6 Same problem occurs, freezes on "restarting system". Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks a lot! |
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I searched all the day for a solution on the internet. Nothing founded. Do I buy a REDHAT version of LINUX ? Thanks in advance ! |
Look in the BIOS - most modern mobos have the option to override the no keyboard halt issue.
|
I tried to change all the bios options concerned by this problem without results !
My motherboard is the KM4M-V with latest bios version. |
In the past, I didn't have any such problem with REDHAT 7.
