Forgetting Root Authorization

By default, there is a gold shield icon placed in the SysTray when root authorization is inputted. I'm not sure what I did, but I disabled that icon from coming up. How can I turn it back on or forget authorization another way? I preferred using the icon because I could easily tell if I was logged in as root or not. Help!
