font and flash

Just installed Fedora C4 yesterday. Two questions:
1.The font in Firefox is rearly worse than the one in the Windows OS, even I have using the same font and color setting. Any way can make the font display looks like the one in the Windows OS?

2.The Flash displaying is not transparance. For example the clocks in "www.clocklink.com" suppose to be transparant, but in the Fedora, they become the white background instead. Any suggestion?

This is the first time I am tring Linux. Everything is good except the default theme. I got used to the theme of the Windows XP, and also like the theme in MAC OS X. Anyone can give me a good tutorial about cusumizing the Fedora.

Thanks

You may need to install .ttf fonts. Here is how you do that with Slackware, but should work the very same way with Fedora:

You can download a bunch of themes for gnome and kde to customize your desktop. Since you are using Fedora, I guess you are running Gnome right?. Go here and grab the themes:

http://www.gnome-look.org/

it you use KDE, then:

http://www.kde-look.org/

If you like MacOSX look, you may be pleased to know that it's quite possible to achieve the same with Linux, here is a screenshot of my Desktop:

That is Gnome with MacOSX wallpapers, themes and sounds. Buttons "close" "maximize" and "minimize" were changed by editing gconf. The bar on the bottom is done with gdesklets:

Regards!

The font is still a problem. I did installed .ttf fonts when i installed the Fedora. But they look just not as clear as I see in the WINDOWS. Also, the flash cannot display correctly in the Firefox.

Any information will be hightly appreciated.

You're welcome mate ^_^. Sorry that the fonts thing didn't help though. You can try to enable anti-aliasing. I think both Gnome and KDE supports that feature, somewhere. You may also consider going in Firefox preferences and setting the minimum size for the fonts, instead of "none" as the default is. 13 works fine for me.

You can always resize the fonts on the fly in Firefox as well: Press "ctrl +" to increase the fonts size and "ctrl -" to reduce them. It's not a real fix, but should help reading sites, especially those created by Web designers with horrible taste for colors =).

I have no idea about the flash issue though. Never had that problem, sorry.

Best of luck!
