Fluxbox

after trying out some minimalist window managers, i settled with fluxbox. almost everything worx fine. i installed it from rpm, it all went fine, added fluxbox automatically to the list where i can choose the desktop on startup, but...

i can't set it default. if i run switchdesk, i can't see fluxbox. strange, because (as i wrote above) it's there on startup.

thanx for any help!

which display manager do you use?i dont know about GDM or XDM but if you run KDM then that one chooses the last used desktop manager by default.so all you have to do is click on your username and then you should be ready to go.
you can also start into runlevel 3...write a .xinitrc file for yourself with something like
exec fluxbox in if the first method is not up to your liking.

the smaller window managers seldom add entried for GDM et al. if you go to /etx/X11/Sessions or /etc/X11/wmsession.d or whatever it is these days you should see a file for each window manager in the list. just copy one of the files, and change all the relevant details and restart GDM.
