Flash runs OK as root, won't run as user in Fedora 8

I tried installing gnash and it worked poorly in both Firefox and Konqueror. (Poor or no sound, images often messed up.) I uninstalled it and then installed flash-plugin via the Adobe YUM repository. If I type
Code:

about:plugins
in Firefox, it shows Shockwave Flash as enabled. If I log in as root, everything works fine. As a user, I get nothing—just a blank space where flash should be in the browser. This sure looks like a permissions issue, but I searched here and Googled the Internet for an answer and located nothing. Let me add that having it not work is a deal breaker. Any page with Flash content (half of the Web these days, including every page of LQ) freezes for 8-10 seconds while the browser figures out what it should display (nothing) . . . not to mention that sometimes I actually want to view this content. ;) I would appreciate any ideas. :)

I think I solved my problem. For the record, I removed Firefox and flash and added them back in via YUM:
Code:

yum install firefox.i386 firefox-32
yum install flash-plugin

It crashed the first time it ran, but it ran fine after restarting.
