Fedora Yum update problem

Hello,
I'm having a problem getting Fedora Core 4 to update. I haven't seen this before. It repeatedly fails on downloading headers. It will download a few then fail. Next time it will find the header it couldn't before then go a little further down the list and fail again.

I have a local mirror setup on an FDC4 server running Apache. I'm doing it this way because I'm having issues with squid blocking rpms and also using ftp for installations. I went to rsyncing a mirror for updates and the initial rpms (i386), creating a mirror that only machines on my network can use.

The Apache server is on the same network as the client systems. I still get those blasted errno 256 errors when attempting to update.

Any suggestions?

Are there any proxies on local network ?

May you give me the logs, please?

klnasveschuk: Didn’t understand your comment about using ftp for installations, but I’ve never had any problems serving updates, etc. to up2date, yum or apt from a local mirror using vsftpd.

If you want to try it, vsftpd is part of the FC4 server package and may already be installed on your system. It’s preconfigured to anonymously server content from /var/ftp, so all you need to do is to put your content there (or in /var/ftp/pub), start the service and open port 21 in the firewall.

yum problem

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I had problems with one machine. I have 3 others that have worked flawlessly. The first one updated after repeated crashing finally. I can't duplicate the same thing on the other 3.
