Downleoad the 1.6 version of Mozilla and install it but be sure to specify your current Mozilla directory (probably usr/lib/mozilla-1.4.1) and let it delete your current installation and install the new one. Be sure to back up your plugin directory and then just overwrite the new one created by the 1.6 setup. Hope this solves your problem. Also, there may be a option in preferences to turn off the automatic update check.

Doesn't work. Is that a link you used while logged in? Probably specific to your username.

Same here. apt-get worked for me.

Thanks to Buchan. The faq was useful and solved the problem. The relevant bit was the GPG signature part.

the "rpm --install blah...RPM-GPG-KEY*" sorted the problem. BUT why ???

Did the GPG get changed in December sometime ?

Not being too informed on up2date's workings, why did I need to run the above command if up2date was working fine in Oct/Nov ?

As the GPG key is (and always was) in a sub directory of /usr - what has changed - or was it that the GPG key installed in up2date could have got corrupted ?

Too many questions, I know....

But thanks again for the advice !

Code:
rpm --import /usr/share/doc/fedora-release-*/*GPG-KEY*
rpm --import http://rpm.livna.org/RPM-LIVNA-GPG-KEY
seems to have workd for me

I may be totally off base here, but, my guess is they introduced new keys sometime in December. They are now signing the .rpm's with these new keys. In order for your up2date to validate against the new keys, you need to install the public key portion (the download/ --import step).
