Yup - you are not alone - been banging my head about this one since before Christmas.
"GPL invalid. File is corrupted or has been tampered with". However it seems like it freezes downloading ANY update (kernel, bash etc) after the first few k and then times out.
I am tempted to change the file location info in up2date but will manually do it for now. My sources file is basically the same as the one in the link Hero Doug suggested though - so not sure why it has problems.
You can manually download the RPM files from the fedora site or any official mirror. Place the RPM(s) in the "/var/spool/up2date" directory. Now, re-run the "Red Hat Network Alert Notification Tool", and it should automatically pick up on the RPM you placed in the /var/spool/up2date directory.
I have found that if you use Apt and Synaptic, problems arise when installing and upgrading packages using Synaptic and Up2Date. Instead I downloaded the yum rpm from freshrpms and after it is installed issued the command yum update and Fedora was updated with no problems, also fixed my up2date. I haven't had any problems since:
I did a little diging around when I started having this problem and found the UNoficcial fedora FAQ @ http://fedora.artoo.net/faq/
They helped a lot, after doing what they said in there I was able to at least get to the stage of downloading the rpms BUT... the server was REALLY slow. I found a mirror and downloaded them manually into /var/spool/up2date and bingo everything worked perfectly.
i didn't have any troubles d/loading the patches. but it wouldn't install them.. it did nothing..
also i hae mozilla 1.5, but it keeps trying to update to 1.4..... how can i stop it from thinking that it needs to be updated? can i delete the usr/lib/mozilla-1.4.1 folder? or is there a better way of uninstalling mozilla? (the defualt one that can with Fedora)
