Fedora Lockup durring boot
Aight, here's the thing.. Kinda new to linux and such but anyways... Decided I'd install Fedora Core 1. Had some troubles durring boot, received the common error of "/boot may not meet requirements for architecutre" - > ignored. and the "An error occurred transferring the install image to your hard drive." fixed by typing "linux ide=nodma" before installation.. Ok, so it all got installed and everything. but now, while booting, it always locksup at the stage after Setting up Local disks Anyone have any ideas??? " To be more secific,, at the "i" in details. lol thanks
Oh, and as well, running this on a Compaq Presario 2500 series, 2.4ghz, 40 gb hdd, partitioned as needed, CD-R/RW, wireless 802.11g integrated, etc etc etc.. the better series.

First wild uniformed guess....something has gotten corrupted during the install, so blow away the linux partitions with fdisk (not the ones with the iso's and reinstall completely. Just to save time do a very minimal install..no graphics, no networking, no sound, etc - just a simple one.
If the problem goes away, install the other stuff and enjoy.

Well, I was curious, I went back and tried to install RH9. Unfortunately, at this point it hangs on ohci1394. Firewire.. Does Fedora enherite these complications?

aight, so I bypassed the freezing... It was my firewire shit... just added linux nofirewire durring boot... but now durring the probing of new hardware, it doesn't really freeze, but just sits there forever.

You could disable the kudzu service, then run it manually whenever you need to add or remove hardware.
Code:
# /sbin/chkconfig --list kudzu
kudzu 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
# /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 kudzu off
# /sbin/service kudzu stop
