as far as I know, the "mp3 un-support" means just that Fedora doesn't include the mp3-package for Xmms (or any other mp3-player) in the basic installation so that you'll need to download it manually after installing (I think it can be found at xmms.org) Fedora and install it (which needs as much as double-clicking?) :) so imo it is not a "limitation"
and to continue, I think there are really no "limitations" in linux, in the same way there are in Windows (like you-can't-edit-this-thing-because-uncle-Bill-tells-you-not-to), because everything should be "freely editable" in the way GNU Public licence (or others if there are) say...? like if you have a problem, you can go around it somehow or fix it.
