Fedora: Installing Gnome from the command line
Hi. I don't normally run Fedora, but I'm trying to get Fedora 16 set up in a VM for software testing/packaging purposes. In my case, I used a net install disk to install the base system, and now I am trying to install Gnome from the command line. (I didn't install Gnome during OS installation, because I wanted to first set yum.conf to throttle back the bandwidth.) My question: Is there some kind of "gnome-meta" package that I am supposed to install that gives me the entire gnome desktop environment?
I installed the Xorg server package, Xorg drivers package, Xorg evdev, GDM, and the gnome-desktop3 package. I can start GDM with the gdm command, but after I log in with my username and password, the screen simply blinks and I get thrown back to GDM. Presumably there is something else Gnome-related that I didn't install. But I can't seem to find a "gnome-meta" package or anything similar (using yum search). What am I missing here?
