I installed Fedora 2 on a compaq proliant. In order for the install to see all the memory I had to use the

linux mem=memexact mem=640k@0 mem=383m@1m

parameter since there is 384m of ram. Everthing went smoothly during the install. After removing the install cd and letting it reboot I edit the kernel parms in the grub screen to add the memory for the kernel parms. Everthing appears to go smoothly until I get to the

Enabling the swap space. [OK]
hda: ide cd-rom driver.

No okay and the system hangs right there. Any ideas? I tried interactive and the display was so bad I couldn't read it.

It looks like you system in failing to start init. THe next action is to start init and then go into your GUI. THere is wehere you are hanging up.

I just 10minutes ago finished instaling FC2 on a system and I am having the exact same problem. The hardware is a Gateway PIII w/ 256MB RAM.

I have been installing FC2 for over a week on many different systems with the same disks and package ("Everything") and partitioning (hda1=/boot=100MB; hda2=/=majority of disk; hda3=<swap>=RAM).

I odn't know why it is happening. I had this problem with a custom built system a couple of days ago (FIC mobo, AMD Athlox XP 3000+, 1024MB RAM) and I just reinstalled and things went fine, however that is not working with this other system tonight.

I'm still loking for the problem & solution.
