Fedora Core 6 new user passwords not working
OK, so I'm not that clever. But a basic simple task in linux is setting up a user account from root.
I use the User Manager app, add a user, put in a password, try to login, and am told "Access denied"...invalid user account...blah blah Help!!! This one has me baffled. I'm doing everything from root at the moment, and want out... |
Did you select "create home directory"? Have you added user passord twice? In any event, check this: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/e...fig-users.html

Thanks for the advice. I looked there, but I did everything that the admin process claimed works... Not sure what the issue is.
I did make the home dir, etc... Did everything I was supposed to. When I save the new user account, with a 7 character password, and go back and look at it after committing, it only has a 5 character password, every time. Truly baffling. I may do it in shell and see what happens. Maybe its an admin GUI problem in FC6  |
I never used the graphic fool to add users. I normally use useradd from a command line.

yeah, you're probably right. I've gotten lazy over the years with all this stuff.
