fedora core 6 browser problem
When I browse I get odd looking "blocks" on my browser screen, making it hard for me to view content. The problem occurs in firefox or konqueror. When I disable java and javascript still occurs. Uninstalled java still have problem. Swapped out memory no change.
Did not have this problem with fedora core 5 using same hardware.

any assistance would be appreciated.

You've found a bug in the Konqueror browser. You can try taking it to the developers of the application, but that will only work if you can EXACTLY reproduce the error every time. Even then you probably won't make much progress.

Konqueror is a simple browser, like Dillo or gnome's Epiphany. Its not intended to support all media-rich content. Go with firefox or opera for that stuff.

I can predict my answer before I even see the screenshots:

upgrade to firefox 2.0 and try again.

It looks like an XOrg problem. It's writing spurious data, or repeating parts of the screen. That suggests a sych problem. Has it detectedthe monitor correctly?

Konqueror and Firefox use different render engines, so it's not that. FC6 has the new XOrg 7.

Hi. I noted that when I attempted shutdown the system after upgrading my firefox browser that the system would not shut down. I opened system monitor and the process called xorg was taking most of the resources. Once I ended the process then the system shut down. Upon reboot and login I verified the monitor type(Dell 2000FP). It was correct(but the digital version was selected not analog).Since I have svga cables, once I selected analog the system works fine. I thank you all for the help. It was very frustrating indeed! (I do not know if during the initial installation of fedora core 6 if it automagically selected the wrong monitor of if I did)...
Thanks again.
