Fedora Core 6 & SATA

Until today I had installed Fedora core 4 on a SATA hard drive. On this same disc I had installed Win XP. Both is alright.

Today I wanted installed FC6 but it did not recognize my SATA hard disk unlike FC4.

Why this regression ?

How can I install FC6 ?
How to proceed in order to recongize my Hard Disk ?

Does anybody have any answer to my problem ?

I am actually replying from a notebook that has two SATA disks and FC6. FC6 installed without any problem with regards to the disks. You need to provide more information about the problem that you experience. The FC6 DVD comes also with a "rescue" boot option. Can you boot this rescue system? Can you see the hard disk within this rescue system?

best,
Werner

I don't try the rescue option. I'm going to try it.
But it seems that my problem is related to the type of my motherboard. And mode particulary about the nVidia chipset, nForce 4. Maybe I need a new driver, is it true ? If so, where can I find it, and how can I use it to process the install and after this process to boot correctly ?

Most BIOS offer a "legacy" mode for SATA drives. I remember that I had to use this way back when the distribution didn't support SATA drives. You may want to check the BIOS setting for your disk. When this "legacy" mode (or whatever it is called in your BIOS) is active, the disks appear like regular ATA disks to the OS.

Werner
