Fedora Core 4 - Boot Type
 

Hello again, everyone.
This one should be a pretty simple question.

My laptop is single OS with the common multiple kernel entries in the Grub boot loader. What I want to do is create options for "run level to boot to". So, when at work, all I want is text mode (run level 3) since I just use SSH from my work Linux machine to my laptop, while at home I want to boot it into X (run level 5).

It is really just for convenience.
But...

What flags do I need to add to a grub.conf entry to do this?
Obviously I need to create two entries (one for graphical and one for text).

Can it be done at this time at all?



On a related note, when I set /etc/inittab to use "x:3:once:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon" it just freezes at the point where it would normally load the GDM screen. I'm able to SSH to the machine and all that fun stuff, but I was expecting to see the standard text login screen like when you hit CTRL+ALT[2, 3, etc.].

Anyone take a guess at that one?

just stick a 3 or 5 in the options. it doesn't need any more than that. youd' think it'd be like "init=3" or "runlevel=5" but you actually only need the number.
