This has to do with UDEV problem. And to permanently solve the problem.. check the solution above. Download the latest driver (6629) from NVIDIA.. you do not need to patch anything..
Does this have to do with the "Configuring Kernel Parameter" freeze when booting??

Just before i install my 6629 Nvidia drivers and do the changes to my xorg.conf, reboot, then i have this problem. It freeze in the part of Configuring Kernel Parameter.

Once you've got into your system open a terminal, su to root and type the following:

# /sbin/modprobe nvidia
# cp -a /dev/nvidia* /etc/udev/devices
# chown root.root /etc/udev/devices/nvidia*
Reboot and all should be well.

The above 3 lines permanently cured my 'configuring kernel parameters' problem during boot.

All the above are mentioned throughout this topic and it all works for me. Hope it helps you as well.

quick question sorta related to this, i reinstalled fc3 today (ive been having variousproblems) and i did the following

installed fc3

update kernel and a few other things

install nvidia drivers.

ive done this before successfully, but not while booting it looks up after saying something about checking the file system. it mounts ok, then stops. is there anyway to fix this without formatting?

thx

Try coomenting or removing the "rhgb" part in the kernel parameters of your /boot/grub/menu.lst (or grub.conf). To access your Fedora partition, you can "chroot" into it using a rescue disk, installation CD1. I save myself the time and effort by just using a live CD like Knoppix or Mepis to access an otherwise inaccessible partition.

Saved my hair.

Thanks alot reddazz,
I was going mad retrying over and over again installing driver version 6629, then it just worked first time with version 6111.

My video card is nVidia TNT2 M64 32Mb, it definetly has some problems with newest driver.

cheers Eggert

You are welcome. I got the same card and I am seriously considering an upgrade.
