...so is this the official FC3 release?

Cypionate 11-08-2004 08:33 AM

I dunno but it looks like maybe they are reserving a spot for it and once it becomes available you won't get that 550 Can't Open the file. I don't think it's been released as of yet.

Man no server has it unlocked as of yet. What are they waiting on, a bat signal :D

objorkum 11-08-2004 09:35 AM

It's unlocked at several servers now.

I'm pulling down the DVD version now from an FTP server in the states. Hopefully it's not a TEST!

Zuggy 11-08-2004 10:28 AM

I've got it coming down my skinny 256k pipe right now. It takes about 6-7 hours per CD so I'll probably have it up and running tomorrow.

PS it's not a test. The test releases have fedora corex testx. Plus according to the schedule Fedora Core 3 is supposed to be released today

wiraone 11-08-2004 11:12 AM

Finally .. anyway, downloading at full speed (gosh.. I've only 512kbps connection ..) .. from server in Germany.

Is that 256KB or 256Kb?? Because I have the dvd iso coming in right now on my 1.5Mb DSL line that I get around 165KB down, and it tells me right now at 154KB time remaining 4 hours 38 min. Man I hope this release is as good as it's supposed to be. I'm also snagging Mandrake 10.1final as well so I'll have lots of choices :)

Hey guys, there's few tricks about how should I update my FC 2 to FC3??
Does it work with YUM?

Or would it be wiser to start with clean installation?
It may take a while with 256Kb broadband... ??

:D

wampfler 11-08-2004 02:12 PM

i want to upgrade from fc2 to fc3 with yum.
i changed yum.conf, did a "yum update yum", and "yum check-update" shows me a long list with available packages.
but "yum update" doesn't do anything.
anyone can help me?

wiraone 11-08-2004 02:36 PM

Shouldn't you do 'yum upgrade' instead? BTW, don't you need to update the fedora-release package too? Just curious .. I'll go for the safest way .. ISO.
