Unhappy Fedora Core 3 Post Install Issues

Alright, I've recently added a Seagate SATA 160 Gig drive to my system and did a total rebuild from scratch of my Win2k and Linux installs. What I discovered in doing this is that FC2 didn't like the SATA drive, but that wasn't a major issue as FC3 was available.

FC3 installed with no problems, I had no issues with the crappy Disk Druid partitioning tool to set up the drives as they should be to make sure Win2k will boot through grub. But when I reboot and try to start linux it gets to the point where the Red Hat nash Version 4.1.whatever is starting and just sits there.

I'm a little baffled that there's not any kind of error message provided at all.

Any idea's what might be wrong?

if you get a grub menu screen then the kernel boots....or tries to U have a sata kernel or sata initrd issue.

Mdk
lsmod gives me sata_via libata and I use a WD sata on a gigabyte board that uses via chipset
If your kernel has it compiled in U can still see it load via /var/log/dmesg and to be sure check /boot/config-kernel file search for via or your chipset

in the worse scenario U made need to start your system off in rescue mode then compile a kernel after chroot

Maybe I'm mistaken, but it looks like this would need me to be able to boot the thing, which I cannot do. The Grub screen comes up, and I select the Linux boot option and that's when it gets to the screen about decompressing the Linux kernel and runs the Red Hat nash where it just stops.

How would I do a safemode boot in order to make fixes?
