Theoretically it can be done if your motherboard has the correct bios. I run Phoenix something or other and when I start my computer I can press F2 to view system settings. Booting from an external device is one of them. Whether or not this is possible for FC2, i don't know, but it's a non issue if your bios doesn't support it.
