Fedora Core 2 HDD Geometry Partition Table problem.
Hi,
Sorry to cross-post, but I realised when I posted this in the software forum that I'd posted it in the wrong place! I'm using Fedora Core 2 dual-booting with Win XP, and I suffered the HDD geometry issue that is prevalent in FC2, Mandrake 10 etc, and I believe the problem lies within the 2.6 Kernel? After fixing this (using Knoppix and then running Norton Ghost under windows to back up the NTFS and /home partitions) I low-level reformatted the drive to eliminate any partition table problems. What I want to know is, does this problem only occur if you use say, the Fedora Core 2 Anaconda formatting tools? Or any other 2.6 kernel formatting tools? If I partition my drive using Partition Magic in windows, will that prevent the CHS values being messed up when I reinstall Fedora? Thanks in advance, |
