Fedora Core 2 ate my hard drive....
I'm having problems with installing more recent versions of Linux on my computer. If I install Fedora core 1 on my Gateway s10, all is fine. But if I try anything more recent, such as Core 2, as soon as the machine reboots after installation, the machine can't find the hard drive. If fact, the machine will not go past the BIOS messages and start POST. I have to disconnect the drive from the machine to get it to boot. My father in law think that the installation over-wrote the drive information block in the boot sector. Either way, I have kill 4 drives like this with Fedora core2 and Mandrake 10. Was there a change to the default file system on these distributions. Is Reiser file system unique to these versions?
