Fedora Core 2 and DST07

Hi,

I am trying to prepare all our servers for DST07. I can't get the time zone data to use the new dates on my Fedora Core 2 (or 3) servers.

I tried downloading the tarball from http://www.twinsun.com/tz/tz-link.htm (I tried both tzdata2007a.tar.gz and tzdata2006p.tar.gz). I untarred them, and ran
zic -d /tmp/zoneinfo northamerica
and tried
zic -d /tmp/zoneinfo pacificnew
After, when I do the following
zdump -v /tmp/zoneinfo/PST8PDT | grep 2007
it still shows the old dates. So I did not bother with copying these files over the existing.

I also tried the fedora 6 src RPM and I tried the fedora 6 noarch/i386 (non src) rpms. Those don't work either.

Am I supposed to upgrade another package as well? Or did I do something wrong.

I have seen other posts with these steps (which I followed exactly) but I don't get what they say I should get. So I was wondering if maybe Fedora 2 required some extra stuff.

Thanks for your help.

I can't help with the specifics, but have you considered updating to something a bit more current? Fedora is now eyeing version 7.

Unfortunately, I don't have time now to upgrade all our older servers. Probably will do that eventually though.

One of the oldest stories in the book: "I can't afford the time to________"

Have you evaluated the time that will go into maintenance vs the time to upgrade??

Some would argue that you can't afford not to upgrade

It has nothing to do with me being able afford the time. I have several new servers to setup as well as the day to day stuff. And on top of that, it would not be my decision whether we upgrade or not.

Anyways, I tried the fedora noarch (non-src) rpm again and it worked this time.

Please correct me if I am wrong, /etc/localtime should just be a symlink to the zone file I need in /usr/share/zoneinfo correct? By default, in Fedora, it is not a symlink, but a copy, so I am not sure.
