Fedora c3, monitor goes into sleep mode

I'm a newbie to linux, so I really need some help. I've installed Fedora core 3. When I try to boot into the os, my monitor goes into sleep mode. This happens right when the screen changes from text to the graphical interface. I'm able to see the status bar as the os is loading for just a few seconds. Every now and then the os will boot into gnome, but more often than not, my monitor just shuts off before I get there.

Also, during the install, I was not able to choose a monitor, not even a generic crt, which is what I have. Like I said before, I'm a newbie to Linux, so if any one has any ideas as to how to remedy this problem, I'd really apprecieate it! I have a Starlogic 19" crt monitor, and my video card is a radeon 9800 pro (128 meg). Thanks.

Its probably a problem with the graphics card drivers... Have you tried plugging your monitor into the generic port on your PC...That way FC3 can find it and drive it I don't think its any problem with your monitor at all... You'll have to download the drivers for Linux from ATI after install. I had to do that when I tried out FC2, If your monitor is attached to your motherboard from the generic monitor port you should have no problem.

get your drivers at these places..
