Fedora and Fonts

Hi everyone

I made a full complete Installation of Fedora. But now I want to
use the fonts Helvetica and Times in all programms. They aren't
install as default but I found them on /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi
and in folder: /usr/share/fonts/ISO8859-2/100dpi. They are all gziped.
How can I figure out how Fedora add them to the normal "red hat ->
preferences -> fonts" and every programm is able to use them? Could
somebody help me?

regards
Max

But If you don't have sucess. are can tray for tese copy these font to ~/.font directory.

Before teste the directory /usr/share/fonts/local/ are you need to do
# service xfs restart

in ~/.fonts only restart X server.

HI NACKED_DEXTER

I do the things you said -> mkdir local in /usr/share/fonts/ then I copied the fonts in this directory. Then I made a fc-cache in /usr/.../fonts/local and then I restarted the xfs server in /etc/init.d/ with ./xfs restart.

Now I can see the fonts systemwide ... great!!! .. but I've got still a problem: I want to use this fonts in sodipodi www.sodipodi.org. But the new Fonts I have just added aren't aviable in sodipodi.

But when I open GIMP .. I can write with these fonts! ... don't know why sodipodi loads them. :-/ any ideas?

... thank you for helping!

Ehm .. I'm using Gnome with a orignal rpm package the newest version 0.33. Well my fonts ar in pcf format ... perhaps that make some problems? ... I don't know. Well I rebootet the machine 1 or 2 times. But there are no changes. Could you send me one of your ttf? ... so I will try to put also a ttf font in the local dir.
