Fedora 9 On Older Systems, And On External HD...,...?

Looking first at the compiz fusion desktop, could that work reasonably well on an older, Pentium 2?

Might I need a RAM upgrade?

And how would Fedora 9 go as on a portable EHD?

I might like to try that, is there a good description of how to download from CD to EHD, or perhaps if I put a formatted HD in an older computer, add Fedora, and later make it an EHD?

As such and External HD, would it detect hardware elsewhere, when attached to a colleague's computer...?

Is it good for hardware detection?

Does it come with compiz fusion on installation?

IMO, I don't believe you would get a very good result with Fedora 9 and a P2. Even if you upgraded the ram to 512 or better, the processor would be too slow. Also, compiz will run on lower end graphics cards, but, again the results are very good. I believe to get a good usable system, you will need at least a 1Gzh PIII with at least a 64MB graphics card.

You can certainly install Fedora to an external HD, but if it is connected via USB, your computer will need to have the capability to boot from USB or use a boot floppy or CD with something like SuperGrub.
