Fedora 8 to MS Shared Folders

Hey all,
I have a question about configuring my Fedora 8 system to be able to access my XP machines Shared folders or anything for that matter. Since I am rather new to Fedora Im not sure about how to configure the networking settings. I have heard allot about using this "smb " however ; I think that I have been unsuccessful in doing so. So to cut it short I want to be able to access my shared folder on my XP machine through my F8 machine and vice versa. Is this possible and if so how do would I do it. Thanks in advance.

Install Samba from Applications -> Add/Remove Software (Servers - Windows File Server).

Then go to System -> Administration -> Samba and configure it.

1) Preferences -> Server Settings and set your workgroup name for your network. (Probably workgroup or MSHOME.)

2) Preferences -> Samba Users and add your self as a user. Pick your login name from the list, make the windows username and password the same as your Fedora username and password.

3) Click Add Share, select what you want to share, make it visible and writable if you wish, and add yourself as a user.

You should now be able to share files with Windows clients, and access shared folders on Windows clients.

thanks rex,
However I have done those configurations, and im unsure of where to look for my XP shred folder. Do I need to use Samba or do I need to use computer->Network then browse for the my PC ? I have done that but it wont show up. I can ping from my XP machine to my F8 machine, but I cannot ping from my F8 machine to the XP machine. So I think that im not configured correctly some ware. I have my firewall turned off for the time being until I can get connection between the two.

I apologize,
After I rebooted and played with some other setting i was finally able to view my windows work groups.I also have some questions about getting xscreensaver as my primary screen saver program . I use the command xscreensaver-demo in terminal. Is that the correct way to configure it? Also do i need to disable the default GNOME screensaver program as well?

One other thing I get an error message when I try to access my XP machine. The message is as follows:
Quote:

The Folder Contents Could not be displayed
Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "Windows Network: xpmachine".
