Fedora 8: Howto enable online desktop
 

Alrighty, the online desktop is actually cooler than I thought it would be. Here are the instructions on enabling it. It's fairly easy but at some point you will need to go register at gnome.org.

You can basically get everything you need installed by running the following command, as root:

# yum install bigboard

It will install the following:

bigboard
deskbar-applet
gnome-python2-gnomedesktop
gnome-python2-gnomekeyring
gnome-python2-libwnck
hippo-canvas
hippo-canvas-python
loudmouth
mugshot
online-desktop

Ok once that is done logout and choose click sessions before you log back in. On the list you will the online gnome desktop. Choose that and login like regular.

The screen you will then see is a gnome desktop with a bar on the left side. (still looking for a way to put it on the right) At the top of the bar you will see your user name. If it doesn't say logged in, click it to go signup at gnome.org.
