Smile Fedora 8 Custom Spins Installation

Hi all

I am interested in the Fedora Electronic Lab and Fedora Games spin.

Are these total Fedora installs by themselves or do I have to install Fedora 8 first then run the spins to get the benefit of each one.

I was going to bittorrent the fedora-8-dvd torrent and install that. Do I install the FEL spin ontop of that or will this just cause conflicts with my base fedora 8 setup.

I like the idea of the FEL and Games spins but not too sure how to implement them on a fesh install.

Thanks for any clarity on this.

Cheers

Gimmee

There is some information in the release notes that should answer most of your questions. Checkout the Fedora Live Images section. There is also a link to a wiki page on Fedora Electronic Labs. Based on what I have read these are live CDs or DVDs that will allow you to install directly. You do not need to install the full DVD version. Once installed they connect to the same repositories as the full version giving you access to all available packages.

Its a live CD which can be installed separately as a distribution itself so no need to do any setup on existing fc8 setup. Best thing to do is to have a Fedora 8 system installed and add the games and FEL packages via yum repos for the respective flavor of fedora. What i mean is that get the yum repo info for FEL and live games from fedora project and add it to you /etc/yum.repos.d/ . this should be handy to do.
