Fedora 4 install gets stuck...!!!


during the boot process while trying to install fedora 4 it gets as far as

Running /sbin/loader

then it just gets stuck !!! won't go any further !!

any ideas, boot options ???

can you use a live cd such as knoppix to see if all your hardware is working correctly?

try using different install media

will give that a try... thanks for the input ... i think it might be bad media...

anyone know of a reliable source to download fedora 4 instead of using bit torrent ??

I've always found Bit Torrent to be a much more reliable method of downloading ISOs than http or ftp, since most (all?) Bit Torrent clients check the file as it is downloaded, and re-download corrupted chunks. Did you check the sha1sum on the .iso file, and did you use the media check before starting the install? It should give you the option to do this when you boot from the CD/DVD prior to installation.

For some reason both Fedora and Windows would freeze on boot if I set USB Keyboard support to "BIOS". When I switched it to "OS", it booted up fine.

Abit KV8 w/ latest BIOS
