Fedora 3- is the dual-boot bug fixed?

I am thinking of installing Fedora 3 in a friend's computer.

I have Fedora 2 in my own computer, which dual-boots with Win2k. When I installed Fedora 2, I ran into the now-infamous "bug" which changes the MBR and hosed the partition table. I could not boot into Win2k for several nerve-wracking days until I found the solution on this forum (i.e to change the BIOS settings to LBA).

Now I obviously don't want to run into similar troubles installing this in my friend's computer. Can someone tell me if Fedora 3 has similar installation issues, or has the bug been fixed?

I've been a Red Hat Linux user since 1997 and never ran into major troubles until the dual-boot issue, which nearly gave me a heart attack.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Yes. I'm wondering about this too.

I tried dualbooting with FC2+WinXP and made Grub the BootLoader.
However FC2 killed the link to my winxp partition. I did not have the time to diagnose it, thus causing me to lose all my data inside.

Are these problems resolved in FC3?

I never had any of these problems. Neither with FC2 or FC3. Are you using any software to partition your hard drive and make an empty space first before installing Linux? If not then I recommend getting your hands on powerquest partition magic and just resize your partition to leave space for the linux install. Then you can do an auto allocate when installing FC.

Cheers

I've got two systems running FC3, both dual-booting: 1 with Windows 2000 Pro, the other Windows XP SP2.

No issues at all related to booting.

Can confirm it this bug is fixed, i had troubles with FC2 it would change drive geometry in a weird way, but in FC3 everything is fine just perfect.
