Better start to the points, as per subject I have problem with touchpad on fresh install F28 workstation on my notebook ASUS X302.
No issue at all on anaconda, the problem persist after installation when on login screen, I can't click or even move the cursor through the display. I've got to use mouse to continue.
I do some research on web regarding this issue, and found some notebook user also face this issue, sadly no solution.
If it possible can you guys give me a help/solution here? Previously I was using F27 and no issue on touchpad.
I'm on default Wayland session. Fyi, the touchpad even not working on gdm login screen. It's like missing driver or something.
Such problems can happen. What does the following command report?
Code:
libinput list-devices
Quote:
I'm not sure what is 'kernel regression', but I'm completely remove f27 before installing f28.
That just means some issue introduced unintentionally with a given kernel version. A bug report is then submitted and a kernel developer will work towards resolving it with a patch, and fixed again in some later version. Sometimes the developer will have the reporter try different kernel versions (bisecting the kernel to help determine which change introduced the problem in the first place.
Ok, no touchpad evident in that output. Since you've mentioned that it was working with previous kernels, it could well be a kernel regression at play here, and a bug report will probably be needed to help progress this. A quick search of "ASUS X302 touchpad ubuntu linux" and similar does throw up a lot of historic bug reports and threads on the subject. I note that similar models are using Elantech touchpad hardware, so I assume the same here?
I assume nothing touchpad-related is reported at boot?
