Ran into a strange issue with Fedora 18, when I walk away and the screen locks by itself on occasion I can't unlock the screen. It will take my password and look like it's unlocking but I'm presented a gray screen and can't do anything (lock icon in the top left corner). Sometimes after this I can hit ctrl+alt+L and briefly see my desktop as the lock screen goes down.
Other details:
I did a fresh installation when I went from 17 to Fedora 18, all file systems have plenty of space, it's a standard HP desktop with dual monitors. I usually have a remote desktop session opened to a windows laptop and I can still SSH in from another location.
Has anyone else seen this? or have any advise on what to check? I can ssh in so I can kill/check whatever I need to.

I'm using the XFCE Power Manager in Applications> Settings>
That's what came with Fedora 17 that I installed...I would imagine you have something similar- -
Go to the 'Extended' section in the Power Manager Wizard and un-check the box that says:
Lock screen when going for suspend/hibernate; that should help.

I'm facing same issue since upgrading F17->F18 using FedUp. It seems to occur randomly and can't find other way than either killing gdm session or rebooting.
Properly annoying, need to reboot machine several times a day due to this bug.
