Fedora 18 - Window goes to 'full screen mode'
 

I have installed Fedora 18. I had an application running (Audacity - but I don't think that is important) and the window was a 'normal size' in that I could resize it if I wanted to. Then I clicked 'somewhere' and the window went full screen.

What can I do to get the window back to a resizable one?

Click over near applications. It's weird until you get it. Are they trying to extract the urine? If windows 8 can get away with it, so will we" ? :-/.

Whatever it is, is is well hidden.

I pointed to "Activities" and all open windows appeared in a small size (a sort of 'large thumbnail') - but as soon as you click on one, it goes to the size it was last - so if that was full screen, that is what you get.

I noticed that if I clicked on "Files" and then accidentally got it to full screen, it no longer has the "Kiss of death" in the top right corner. The only way that I could find to close that window was to get Activities to show me all the windows, whereupon I had the opportunity to close a window from the 'large thumbnails'.

I notice that Audacity does remember what size it was last time it ran - which means that I keep getting this full screen window. However, it implies that it must hold a file somewhere to remember. Perhaps, I could find that and hack it?

Have you tried Alt-tab? Escape? It's a pita for mouse experts, but I'm a console jockey at heart. I have to work in Fedora's Electronic Spin. I don't like it, but it has the software. If you don't like it, there's 100s of distros.

I have just seen something that says I can drag the title bar down from the top of the screen and it will return to 'normal'. Also, that to go into full screen, you drag the title bar up to the top - so that is what must have happened.

Unfortunately, I can't try any tests just at the moment, so I will have to hold my breath.
