Fedora 18 under VMWare Player

I have installed Fedora 18 in a Virtual Machine supported by VMWare Player 5.

When I try to power up the VM, all appears well until Fedora is showing a desktop background - but it never asks me to log in.

Is there anything that I can do?

Just treat it like a physical machine with a boot problem, just because it's running under VMware doesn't change anything. Try booting to run level 3, logging in and starting X manually - do you get any errors? Do you GDM installed or some other display manager?
