Fedora 17 won't boot, reports incorrect boot media

See my edit people

Hi Peeps
I have rebuilt my Linux box two weeks ago, nice new i3 cpu with 4gigs of ram, I used my old hard drive, but used a new DVD drive, all sata.

First off, this is so fast, i was shocked to see it had the eufi thingy on it, why? It looks nice but doesn't appear to offer as much information as the old Award BIOS screens, anyway I digress.

It was fast, I did three complete installs in an evening until I was happy with it. All updated via the apper option, all seemed fine, two days ago, after it has to be said a raft of updates, the machine won't boot and reports incorrect boot media, first thought is the hard drive has died, but booting from DVD live install type disk the hard drive is fully accessible, so no files lost, so I'm wondering, boot options, how can I check if something like GRUB has become corrupt?

Any ideas please?

Simon

Further to this, it is now my belief the HDD has actually died. Previously I managed to access my own files etc. however I went in just now and can't find anything of this, so thankfully had backed up my documents and bits, I am now going to try a reinstall, if as I suspect it fails I'll know for sure, however if it does install, just what could my issue be?

Simon

Admin if this deserves deleting please feel free, I might have been wasting everyone's time.

Hard disk failure

Hi peeps
Sorry to labour this, the install has since failed with what appears to be a hard disk failure message.....blooming seagate rubbish....

Admin please feel free to delete, unless the warning about hard drive failure tips even one person into backing up their data.....
