Fedora 17 and Crossover generate the wrong character

I run Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 with Codeweaver Crossover Linux, and have a small, but annoying, problem. When I want to use “ in my HTML documents it enters a ¨ which is not recognized as valid HTML.

Without Crossover I have no problems entering “ in any documents... anybody knows how I can change this????

It's not only in Adobe Dreamweaver, I just tried it with notepad.exe and I also get the wrong character there...

Any help is very very much appreciated...

I just installed Dreamweaver CS3 with Wine 1.5.8 and I have the same problem with the characters not being correct. Every time I enter “ I get a ¨ (see picture in my first posting)

That's just weird...

I'd recommend that you put in a support ticket to our ninjas. (I can't post URLs because I'm a new member to these forums, but I'm guessing you can figure out how to do that on our site...) If nothing else, we'd like to document this so it can be stamped out in Wine--because your description makes it pretty clear that it's a Wine error across both the CodeWeavers and public Wine trees.

once i renamed "notepad.exe.off" back to notepad.exe in wine 1.5.8

it runs just like the POS it is on XP
just the same
no issues
except THAT IT IS "notepad.exe" with all that entails

Most Adobe products do NOT run well in wine

if you MUST USE "Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 " then run it ON A supported operating system like win 7

if you must use Microsoft only software then run it on a Microsoft OS

The problem is not related to an Adobe product, as I can reproduce it with all programs running under Wine 1.5.8 and Codeweaver Crossover (latest trail version). It makes it only more annoying that the problem appeared in Adobe Dreamweaver as you use a lot of double quotes (“) in HTML...

The notepad.exe application (located at home/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/), is a native Wine application, the main reason why I also tested the double quotes problem with it. The screenshot picture of the problem in my first post is from the native Wine application "notepad.exe"....

The problem is fix, Mr. Gareth from Gnome suggested that the problem could be related to a bug with Wine reading the keyboard layout, so I switched from English, (US, International with dead keys) to the plain English (US) layout, which fixed the problem.

The only thing I now need to do is now-and-than switch the keyboard layout, but that's not that big of a problem.....
