Fedora 15 updates cause "Clutter-CRITICAL..."
Hullo All,
This morning I installed the available system updates for Fedora 15 from the regular repos, F15-updates, F15-rpm-fusion. After installation a restart was required, but that didn't work too well. I had my normal screen background, and application icons on the desktop but no top iconbar (not sure if that's the correct name) which normally provides access to all applications, time/date, logout, etc. The system was close to unusable.
I could open a terminal (from icon on desktop) but that was fixed in the top RH of the screen and couldn't be resized.
I had a bit of a suspicion that the behaviour was related to gnome-shell, so tried to start gnome-shell from the terminal, and got the following response...(from my notes)
" Clutter CRITICAL **. Unable to initialize Clutter. Unable to find a suitable fbconfig for the GLX context. Window manager error: Unable to initialize Clutter".
I did notice that Clutter was one of the updates.
I still have F14 bootable from a different disc, which is how I am able to post this, and can access some of the F15 files from F14. The content of the F15 /boot isn't seen at the moment, but that's probably a mount issue.
The system is running nvidia drivers if that is related, although I suspect not...but that's just my guess.
Does anyone have any advice as to how F15 can be made usable, at least until Fedora release a fix?
Cheers,
Terry
