Fedora 15: Doesn't remember window size and location

Hullo All,
I am generally happy with Fedora 15, except that Nautilus doesn't remember window size and location. This was a feature of F14 that I liked.
I have been searching for info on this issue but not seen anything that helps.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

Cheers,
Terry

I'm not really sure this is a problem, and it isn't just related to Fedora. I'm sure that Nautilus was updated to a a later version and this feature was probably dropped. It may be possible to restore the feature using an alternate window manager like OpenBox and setting up some rules. Some information can be found here: http://openbox.org/wiki/Help:Applications.

Well I hope you are wrong about the feature being dropped. Maybe everyone else uses Nautilus differently. I looked at your suggestion but at this stage can't see how it helps me.
Thanks for help.

Terry

Here's something to give you an idea:

Code:
<applications>
   <application name="NAME" class="CLASS" role="ROLE">
      <position force="no">
         <x>100</x>
         <y>40</y>
         <monitor>1</monitor>
      </position>
      <focus>yes</focus>
      <desktop>1</desktop>
   </application>
</applications>
You can find the NAME and CLASS using the command xprop | grep WM_CLASS. Keep in mind that this gives you the CLASS first, and the NAME second. The <x>VALUE</x> is the value (in pixels) from the left edge of the screen and the <y>VALUE</y> is from the top edge of the screen. As for the Window being the same physical size, I'm not sure. Anyway, that should give you enough control over your windows.

      <desktop>1</desktop>
   </application>
</applications>
Sorry, I should have elaborated.
What you are suggesting as a possible solution is unintelligable to me.
I don't think I have the knowledge/understanding to tackle my own fix.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Terry
