When I select the Display section of the System Settings, my screen goes black and never returns. Requires power cycling to reboot...

As for the Network Manager, it seems that if you don't install Gnome, it gives the behavior described above. I tried re-installing and including both Gnome and KDE and I was able to save my network parameters. However, I still had problems getting the network to start. And I could not log in as root using gdm, so I have just re-installed yet again without installing Gnome. At least that way I can manually construct the network info...

All I've noticed is it gives me a stupid great message saying "you are now connected to wired network" or something like that. I'm happy to assume I'm connected, I really don't need to be told.

Thumbs down Fedora 10 is too bad to be true

Just do like I did!

UBUNTU is the solution.

I've been on Fedora since Fedora Core 3.
Fedora 9 was already bad but this Fedora 10 killed it!

I may, I repeat, may try Fedora 11 just for curiosity to check if the developers learned with their mistakes.
Don't be in a hurry to provide unstable/incomplete systems to public, but this ideal is the opposite of Fedora Project ideal 'living on the bleeding edge'.
If you want to try new things be prepared for the better and for the worst but I never though that Fedora team will provide to public two bad versions in a row, the next worst than previous.
Too bad... soo bad...unfortunately.

I've made my decision, UBUNTU.

LOL
My last full install was Fedora Core 8 with two upgrades since. So I really haven't got a clue what the new defalts look like because both times my previous settings and files have been pretty much perfectly preserved!

I did notice though yesterday that after my upgrade to f10 that I couldn't log in as root (that lasted about five minutes though)

I should do a fresh install some day though and see what all the fuss is about.

Unhappy DNS has not fixed in fedora 10

Hello,
i am very new in the sense of linux os and i am facing a strange problem after installing fedora 10 in my desktop. Internet is not working. It shows a message that proxy server is not found. I tried to find out the problem and found that everything is ok in network configuration except the subnet mask. The actual subnet mask which i wrote there can not be retained. every time i retype and click ok to accept the changes, automatically it takes same as gateway address.
then i go through /etc/sysconfig/networking/profile/default/ifcfg-eth0
and i have done correction and save it.then its save properly.
but still Internet is not working and shows same message.then i find my dns(primary and secondary)has not fixed.when i have done manually, then internet has connected.but when i have restart computer again it shows same message.after doing manually it works.even when i did by terminal still it has not fixed.

Please help me out.

Thanx in advance
