Fedora 10 and HP NetServer NetRAID (LH6000r)
I was/am running Fedora 9, which was the first version of Fedora I could get to run on my HP LH 6000 (actually an LH6000r) without any custom RAID installation configuration. I was very happy.
But after recently announcing the sale of a high profile domain name that was hosted on the server, it mysteriously crashed and I could only get to a local terminal. I was excited to see Fedora 10 had been released, and thought the best way to fix the server would be to just upgrade Fedora 9 to Fedora 10.
Unfortunately, the "upgrade" it wouldn't even boot. After HOURS of dorking with it, I finally went for a full fresh install of Fedora 10. But still, it would not boot. Being stubborn, I reinstalled it (Fedora 10) again - still no boot.
Even though it would complete the install without complaint, when it came time to boot, it did not recognize the HP NetServer NetRAID. Since I needed to get the server back up, I went ahead and reinstalled Fedora 9 and it came right up.
It appears that Fedora 9 automatically recognizes the RAID and handles it with the Logical Volume Manager (LVM), while Fedora 10 does not, complaining at boot that "volume group volgroup00 not found..." So, inasmuch as I'd like to think that I could upgrade some day, I figured to ask around and see if anyone here has experienced this. And more important, did you find a workaround?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
