Fedora 1, Gimp 1.2.5, and truetype fonts = Help me.

Ok, I've searched the forum, done about 10 methods to get my fonts to show up in Gimp... no dice.

I have a usr/share/fonts/TTF directory
I have a /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF directory
heck, I have a home/me/.fonts directory

I've been user, root, done terminal commands, set permissions, danced naked in front of a fire.

Everything else sees the fonts - only Gimp has my truetypes missing.

Any suggestions? I'm at wit's end.

I need to do graphic work for my business (I do web design...) and I like Linux (yes, I am a newb) but this is baking my noodle.

Try the latest GIMP pre-2 release (1.3.x), which you can get from e. g. the fedora.us "testing" repository. The package is named "gimp2" (it can exist in parallel to the FC1 version of GIMP), and provided that the aforementioned repository is configured in your /etc/yum.conf file, you can download and install the software via yum install gimp2.

GIMP versions as of 1.3 are based on GTK+ 2, which implies full TrueType font support. Although 1.3.x releases are officially considered developers' versions, the latest ones should be quite stable.
