hey ppl. can i say hallo to everyone here i am new on this forum.

anyway yea the make.sh and make_install.sh is doing that because of the kernel source not been complete. the distribution has the source files and it has not got a complete set of header files. in this case the header files are not needed.

it is confusing me why redhat have done this like this because with redhat 9 there was advancements with the system as to symbolic link all of the modules and core code together in this distro fedora core 2 they have not added the symbolic links. why i dont know.

anyway it curtainly makes the instalation go much faster never the less. to get um working as above you must chmod the two file but you are better off using the (sh) command as described on the ATI website where you downloaded the file.

there is a very big problem with the module error coding it returns errors that dont exist and because this is a precompiled module without source there is no way of changing the damn thing. so i am recompiling a custom kernel to rerun this rpm driver.

If you want to recompile use the rules described above as they are the best guidelines which Boxsterman wrote. but do not NOT download a fresh kernel source this is on one hand good but it will crash fedora if you up2date it because modules contained in fedora subversions are not contained in the fresh source. go to the fedora download server i presume you have run up2date so go download the version up2date put you too and are running find this version at the bash login screen.

install the RPM package make a symbolic link "ln -s /usr/src/linux-(kernel version) /usr/src/linux-2.6

then change to the symbolic link directory and run all the build process above as boxsterman has described then try install if it still fails the read the redhat forum's. there was an article i read which had all the development for the move to X.org it states it should work fully with this server.

bare in mind though all of the above has been found out through trying to get it to work me self so if you have succeded to install the driver with full functionality can someone tell us exactly how and what ther system is. Thanks hope it helps maybe we can help each other here.

Lots love all
